Daniel Fruhwirt holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Graz University of Technology and is a certified academic tunnel safety engineer (University of Leoben). He has more than 10 years of professional experience from commercial and research projects in the field of tunnel safety and tunnel operation. Currently, he is in the position of a PostDoc Researcher at Graz University of Technology. In recent years his research focus was on the impact of alternatively powered vehicles such as BEVs and FCEVs on the safety of road tunnels. He is the co-leader of PIARC TC4.4 work group, which focuses on consequences of NEC vehicles on the safety of road tunnels.
