In 2002, a team of highly experienced engineers – specialized in the design and production of industrial fans and tunnel ventilation systems – decided to start up their own company focusing on tunnel ventilation. A partnership was forged with a leading Spanish mining and tunnel ventilation system manufacturer, Talleres Zitrón SA, Gijón, that was prepared to provide full support for their venture.

Zitron Nederland principally operate in Western and Central Europe. Zitron Group, with currently 18 subsidiaries, serve the rest of the world and are a leading supplier of fans for road, rail and metro ventilation systems and mining.

Since 20002 Zitron Nederland has supplied over 60 ventilation systems for road and rail tunnels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Benelux countries. Appealing examples are the Rennsteig and Tiergarten tunnels in Germany, the Tauern, Bosruck, Pfänder and Gleinalmtunnels in Austria, the Kirchenwald/Lopper, Mappo- Morettina, Terri/Russelin, Graitery/Moutier and Galgenbuck tunnels in Switzerland, the Diabolo and Brussels rail tunnels in Belgium and the Betuwe/Barendrecht rail tunnels and the Kethel road tunnel in the Netherlands.

For many of these tunnels Zitron Nederland performs service and maintenance of the ventilation system. This service is also provided for tunnels equipped by others.
